Paperworld Middle East 2024: A Global Celebration of Innovation, Sustainability, and Creativity

Unveiling the Success Stories of the Largest International Show for Paper, Stationery, Arts, and Crafts

The 12th edition of Paperworld Middle East, held in conjunction with the co-located Gifts and Lifestyle Middle East, concluded with resounding success, establishing itself as the fastest-growing show of its kind globally. With exhibitors from over 40 countries showcasing their products, the event witnessed a remarkable 50% growth from the previous year and welcomed visitors from more than 100 countries.

Syed Ali Akbar, Show Director for Paperworld Middle East and Gifts and Lifestyle Middle East, reflected on the event's success, stating, “Over the course of the past three days, visitors to the show have been able to explore over 400 unique exhibitors and more than 1,000 brands. The events set the ecosystem for the international paper trade in the region and gather industry leaders from every corner of the world under one roof. This year has been a resounding success with many productive deals secured.”

One of the highlights of the event was ‘The Hub Forum,’ where industry experts explored market trends, digital transformation, and the growing demand for sustainable alternatives in the paper industry. The discussion emphasized the significant opportunities presented by the digital world and the rising preference for sustainable products.

Riya Jadhav, Director of e-commerce at iDigitalise, highlighted the transformative impact of technology on the printing industry, stating, “The advent of technology and the digital space has brought about a complete transformation in the printing industry, affecting both the production process and the way products are delivered to consumers.”

Vibhor Khandelwal, Managing Director, Expand My Business, added, “The digital era presents an opportunity for stationery suppliers to broaden their product offerings by venturing into new areas such as digital notepads and pens. Adapting to technological advancements is crucial for businesses to remain competitive.”

In the panel discussion titled “Looking Ahead: An outlook on trends shaping the paper and stationery industry,” experts from Alia Mohd Trading Co. LLC, Ittihad Paper Mill, Capital Envelopes, and MEPCO Gulf shared insights into the future of the sector. The unanimous consensus was that the UAE would remain a strong market for paper demand, and the preference for sustainable products would continue to rise, driven by the eco-conscious younger generation.

Parvesh Kapoor, Director, Alia Mohamed Trading, emphasized the growth of e-commerce, while Ritesh Gupta, Marketing at Ittihad Paper Mill, highlighted the enduring significance of face-to-face interaction with consumers.

Ali Haider, CEO Capital Envelopes, concluded, “Paper is here to stay. It is one of the most sustainable products on the planet and is fully biodegradable. The packaging industry is a particular opportunity for the paper sector moving forward as e-commerce grows, and companies look for more suitable alternatives to plastic for their packaging.”

The event's closing day featured Artistry Workshops in collaboration with Funun Arts, providing a platform for visitors to unlock their creative potential. The collaborative live art project, ‘Signature Canvas,’ painted by exceptional artists, symbolized the interconnectedness of the world and emphasized the UAE’s role as a welcoming and unifying center.

In a heartwarming gesture, the Signature Canvas was donated to the SNF Development Center in Dubai, a training center for young adults with special needs. Meanwhile, senior buyers and key decision-makers in the paper industry enjoyed the exclusive program at The Premium Club, fostering meaningful connections between key buyers and exhibitors.

Paperworld Middle East 2024 stands as a testament to the industry's dynamism, innovation, and commitment to sustainability. As the largest international show in its category, it continues to set new benchmarks, providing a global platform for collaboration, learning, and business opportunities.
