Webinar: Mono-material packaging solutions
21 March 2024 - 13:00-17:30 GMT - Online
In the realm of packaging, traditional multi-layer composite films pose a significant challenge in terms of recycling due to the complexities involved in separating different film layers. The pressing need for polymer formats that are easier to recycle has become a focal point throughout the packaging value chain, aiming to mitigate plastic-related pollution and embrace circular economy models. Mono-material films, crafted from a single polymer type, offer a sustainable solution, as they are fully recyclable. This not only simplifies the sorting process but also results in cleaner recycling streams, aligning with the principles of circular economy models.
The rise of mono-material packaging is redefining the landscape of flexible packaging, positioning it as a sustainable and circular alternative. Evolving environmental regulations are compelling manufacturers to overhaul packaging designs, emphasizing the adoption of mono-material structures. This strategic shift enhances recyclability compared to multi-material packaging, prompting a swift need for product development to redesign bottles and caps using novel materials.
The ongoing transition towards a circular economy is fueling increased interest in mono-material plastic films. Consumption of mono-material plastic packaging film is projected to grow at an average annual rate (CAGR) of 3.4% from 2018 to 2022, reaching 23.27 million tonnes ($54.1 billion). In 2023, consumption is anticipated to rise by 3.3% to 24.04 million tonnes ($55.8 billion), with a forecasted CAGR of 4.5% to 29.97 million tonnes ($68.2 billion) by 2028.
By 2023, mono-material plastic packaging film is expected to represent a 69.9% share of global flexible plastic packaging film production, marking an increase from 69.6% in 2018. The growth rate during 2023โ28 is projected to outpace that of 2018โ22 and surpass the overall consumption growth of flexible plastic packaging.
This upcoming webinar will delve into the latest market trends, recyclability advancements, new material developments, regulatory updates, processing technologies, and innovative packaging solutions. The focus will be on fostering collaboration to drive the development of recyclable mono-material packaging, encompassing both food and non-food packaging.
Who should attend:
The webinar aims to bring together experts from various segments of the packaging value chain, including brand owners, retailers, converters, technology/equipment providers, packaging manufacturers, designers, recyclers, waste management companies, and industry experts.
